How many power points does a modern kitchen need?+

Count every daily appliance, then add spare points on the main prep run and any island. Many modern Australian kitchens end up with a long bank of points (often in doubles) plus dedicated circuits for oven, cooktop, dishwasher, and sometimes fridge. Exact numbers and RCD/circuit design are an electrician’s job. The briefing mistake is specifying two lonely points and a powerboard.

How should I layer kitchen lighting?+

Light the work first — under-cabinet LEDs or pendants that actually hit the bench — then add dimmable ambient ceiling light so the room is walkable, then a little accent if the band allows. Pick one colour temperature and stay there. Design it with the power plan before plaster is closed.
